After some advice from the forum, regarding a code / re set scanner I decided to get one.. most I looked at although compatible for LC3/4 are not compatible for LC5. The ones recommended are not compatible for LC older than 2005... so I splashed out and got one that was OK for all Asian vehicles later than 1998. .. it arrived and I tried it out on 6 vehicles at work. all ok , cleared a few codes and re set for some mates.. Then I tried it on the LC5 .... 'NOPE' would not connect...So be careful if your thinking of getting such a tool The LC5 seems to be a breed apart from the other LC3/4s... Or if anyone knows of a suitable code re set scanner, that might do the job.... PS the ones I looked at were the Autophix range..

Hi Higgy
Mines a 2009 LC5 invincible and it works on mine ,the exact model I have is the D900 , you have to scroll down the make list to get to Toyota then press enter then press read code or press erase codes and press enter again to confirm , the answer back then says erase successful .

Hi Higgy

Like I said Tony. They are not compatible with LC5s older than 2005.. The one I bought was a more expensive one and It stated it was suitable for Asian cars INC Toyota after 1998.. but it still wont connect to a 2004 LC5. It will probably work on a LC3/4.. Its a handy bit of kit works on all the motors I tried. But not mine:thumbdown:

The autophix models I looked at were in the £20/30 range but when you read the list of compatible vehicles it states that its not compatible for Toyota lc before 2005.. so I went for the Autophix 123 (£42). its suppose to be more powerful/simple to use etc etc. and was compatible for all Toyota Landcruisers after 1998. its strange it worked on all the motors at the marina.... except one... was strangely satisfying clearing everyones codes for them.. for free:) PS I cant even get to the menu section it simply will not connect/ link up to the obc It says connection/linkup fail. try again later I must have tried it 6/7 times... plug in any other vehicle and it connects instantly.

Its got me stumped why it won't work on yours , I got mine in 2015 and it was dated to scan all codes upto 2015 , it is the D900 model I still see them on ebay for £20 except they now say all cars codes upto 2018 , I just can't figure out why it dont work on yours .

Iv just looked on ebay .. there doesn't seem to be a D900 model listed. there are plenty of others. all pretty much the same I guess.. The trucks booked in at Toyota for a full diagnostics so il ask them why it wont work.. Or its probably best to say nowt PS the turbo step motor can not be bought separate from the turbo on a LC5 you have to buy the whole unit... At a mere £2872.75..So look after 'ya' Turbo Tony:thumbup:

niva trading do the bis for £138.53 they call it a turbocharger actuator , the Lc5 is just a trim and equipment difference the engine and gearbox or auto are the same as the lc3 and lc4 .

So have I Tony. but when you start getting into it they turn out to be for the LC3/4 and are not suitable for the LC5 I hope im wrong. I spent an hour at Toyota in Canterbury on sat morning and they confirmed that my LC5 2004.. you can not get the step motor... this was confirmed by the many turbo specialists I contacted also. desperatly trying to track down a step motor.. I hope someone can find one...

I was just looking at the estimate print out from Toyota and comparing your part no 17201-30100 from Niva.. The Toyota part No for the complete unit with actuator is 17201-30011.. When I quote this No to turbo specialists I always get a big' NOPE sorry mate' cant match that...however there is a Chinese co that say their turbo will match. even their list of part nos match the Toyota one... But the specialists warn me to be careful they say it wont fit.. Don't know

the part no 1720130100 from Niva is their own no for the actuator only and not the turbo , I dont think I would buy a turbo from a chinese company I would rather buy a recon job from a turbo specialist with a warranty .

Couldn't agree more. the thing is it all points to the step motor/actuator not the Turbo. more phone calls and emails.. tomorrow . and wait to see what the diagnostics throw up... Thanks anyway
