Hi All, my 1HDT suroof has been stuck in the almost closed position for some years now. I siliconed up the spaces to keep the rain out, which partially worked. Since we sold her 1HZ, Mama is not well pleased when rain cascades onto her shoulder and lap, so I figure it's time to fix something. How do you get to the motor and general mechanics without destroying the roof lining? Is there a how-to somewhere? My desire is to be somewhere where i can get the complete sunroof removed and a panel welded in. That somewhere is far at the moment.
Cheers
Steve

Watched this a few days ago, it's on a 100 series but I suspect the 80 is similar. Big job.

Very certain you'll have to take the roof lining down to get the assembly out.

Mine does work, but I'm scared it'll get stuck open, so generally leave it closed. Plus the roof rack is above it so dont get much light in and the aircon works very well!

There where the arrow is, thats the motor gearbox spindle hidden behind the compass/tilt clocks. A gentle twist is supposed to manually open and close the roof. Mine doesn't move, so will have to go deeper.
