LJ 71 Aerial/Antenna

Hi guys so one of the first things I had to change since I got my cruiser was the radio aerial. I got one of these universal ones, however I have hit a snag as I don't know how to proceed...

I removed the old one but I can't wrap my head around on how to get the new one in. I'm thinking that I might have purchased a wrong one.

Your help is highly appreciated

That doesnt look right at all!
