a mate recommended these tyres for my 80 series

any experiences or comments lads?

cheers

I've got the Maxxis Creepy Crawlies 37's, works fine for me, a bit on the noisy side on the road though.
The treps are some of the best comp tyres out there, it's all down to what you are using it for.

I looked at Treps a few years ago. Very good tyres but they are soft so they might not last too long if you're doing many road miles. Also directional so can't be swapped around. Primarily a competition tyre I believe. I'd imagine they're good off-road. Not a cheap tyre either - you could probably buy 6 KM2s for the price of 4 Treps.

the 80's mainly used for 'mad sundays' so the wear rate isn't important

nor is the price when you can't make a climb in front of all the onlookers
i smashed my front bumper on the first attempt
and hit a tree on the second, then reversed out of control into another 4x4!

i need more grip to match my ambitions and better than my skill ;)

well there you go, you know you need them! go 37!

:)

Trepador size is; 35 x 12.5 R16

will they fit my 16 x 8 rims?

cheers

8" rims are ideal for 12.5 wide tyres ;)

Have a search on Google for tyre size calculators. There's some useful info there TP.

got my new Trep's,very pleased, soft compound-smoother ride and more grip

i had them fitted on some new beadlock rims
i've had a coupla overnight flat tyres tho'

any advice would be appreciated on using beadlock rims

i'm thinking of swapping them for some normal rims on wednesday!

cheers

Use a sealant when you mount the tyres or put tubes in them, I had beadlocks and never had a problem to be honest but depends on how good the beadlocks are fitted to wheels

back on normal rims again, now i can check my tyre pressures every year like i used to :)

great tyre the Trepador, nice grippy compound
measures at 34'' dia on 2bar
which is close enough to 35''

job done

I love the look of Treps, but I'm told they're too soft for asphalt, although they give great grip, they wear too quickly.

I'm interested to know if you're happy with how they wear, once they've worn a bit, or not, as the case maybe.

You know what I mean... :?

Edit: Sorry, I've just read back in the thread, and you don't do enough asphalt to care too much. Nice tyres anyway, I'm a bit envious TBH...

gona update on pics 'cause of the new tyres and AFN front bumper

Escape rear bumper and winch going on this week

Sounds like you're on a slope, slipperier than the slippiest slope slopes can slip to....

:?
