I have been offered a 70 series year 2015, but the description is 6 cylinder 4.2 turbo diesel engine, 100 litre fuel tank. There is no hood vent. The vehicle is a long way from me so cannot easily inspect just yet.
I had thought that the 2015 models were V8 4.5 litre with 130 litre tanks and a hood vent?
Can anyone shed some light on what the latest year it is likely to be?

Hi Andrew,

I am no expert on 70 series (or anything else for that matter) but looking in my books I think you have been offered an HDJ79. The engine is a 1HD-FTE turbo charged inline 6 of 4164cc. The v8 version is designated as the VDJ79 at 4461cc.
The HDJ79 was either a pickup or chassis cab with coil/leaf springs and a rectangular front. The v8 (VDJ79) is the current model and the only turbo diesel and the other current models are petrol.
The 1HD-FTE gives 204hp @ 3400rpm with 317 ft lbs @ 1200rpm.

All I know is a a lot of places did not get the V8 for years after Australia.
