All these manufacturer woes are in a large part I believe due to the fact that not one person has confidence in any policy on the environment and motoring either being thought out or not subject to sudden change .... that and as others have mentioned even the main dealers or manufacturers often can't fix the tech when it throws a wobble .
The whole EV thing needs turning on it's head ..... government and policy makers are having to bribe ( I think the eco loons use the word "incentivise" ) people to buy the things in the first place .
Throughout all of the previous decades of motoring people wanted to buy new vehicles because they were better than their previous ones ..... until the manufacturers produce an EV that is on the wall of teenage kids bedroom because it's cool and exciting....or tempts people who enjoy driving away from their ICE vehicle for no other reason than it's more exciting , better built and more fun to drive they will struggle to sell EV's....
Not only that.... this country will never have the infrastructure to support EV's for all .... either charging it at home or even a power network capable of transmitting or generating the kind of power needed . Some city pavements are now frost free because of the heat generated by the underground cables transmitting the huge currents everyone wants through decades old and ageing high resistance cabling that is already at it's max .
More and more agricultural guys are selling their latest tech tractors and going out and buying late 1990's era tractors at much more than they were new simply because they can be fixed and maintained and in all honesty probably increase in value every year.... and you can have 3 of them for much less than the price of a new one .
