2011 land cruiser with 133 K miles has cylinder 7 low compression/no compression. I have been told that I need new engine because fixing is not worth labor/expense. Shops can't seem to find an affordable engine online to put in. I see 25K for new engine. Any ideas for me about options or cost? Otherwise, looking for buyer of land cruiser in good shape that still runs. In New Orleans area.

Hi welcome and sorry to hear your problem. Would advise to get a second opinion at least. Sound rare case if this results in a rebuild / new engine sourced for Toyota.

We in the Uk mostly have the 4.5 V8 twin turbo model and even souring a new replacement here is extremely rare with Toyota stopping imports in 2016 for the 200 series.

yes, 5.7 V8 gas. Suddenly started running rough, surging. Dealership thought MAF sensor and coil pack replacement and "tune up" would solve problem $2500 which I didn't do. Codes show multiple misfire code and multiple cylinder individuals misfiring with multiple lights on the dash (check engine, VSC, others). I have had 2 other mechanics check it out and measure low compression in cylinder 7. Both thought though rare, that there is a valve issue and thought engine replacement may be necessary and easier than internal work. Both asked if LC ran hot but never did.
Its in great shape otherwise and looks brand new. So hard to bear that I can't fix or find reasonably priced engine and someone to do the work.

BTW it from what I remember the same engine is used for the Tundra (3UR-FE ) and perhaps more vehicles in the USA. A detailed search may yield you more options and cost effective solutions.

3UR-FE[edit]
The 3UR-FE is a 5.7-litre (5,663 cc) engine designed for use in the Toyota Tundra, Sequoia, Land Cruiser, and Lexus LX570 vehicles, without the D-4S gasoline direct injection but with Dual VVT-i. Bore and stroke of 94 mm × 102 mm (3.70 in × 4.02 in), it produces 381 hp (284 kW; 386 PS) at 5,600 rpm and 55.4 kg⋅m (401 lb⋅ft; 543 N⋅m) of torque at 3,600 rpm. A stainless steel exhaust manifold incorporating a 3-way catalytic converter is used. This engine is cast at Toyota's Bodine Aluminum and currently assembled at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama. Over 1.3 million kilometers of durability testing have gone into the engine. E85 ethanol capability was optional for the 2009 model year.[7] The engine's service weight is 222 kg (489 lb).

Thanks! I am on to another garage and give them a chance and also research the 3UR-FE. After shopping for a replacement SUV today, I realize that I really just want my LC back in working order.

Its been years since i needed to rebuild an engine, but its either going to be a valve or head issue maybe camshaft problem, or a piston issue, yes it could be be a cracked bore and i have no idea if the liners are replaceable.
At one time any decent motor engineer would have been able to whip the relevant cylinder head off and diagnose the problem aand give you a verdict and estimate to fix, entirely possible a cylinder head rebuild or replacement cyl head would fix the issue.
Basically find yourself a good engine specialist, or decent commercial mechanic and put the job in his hands you have nothing to lose other than to pay for his time to diagnose the issue, even if you then decide to sell if you can say exactly what's wrong you have more chance of selling on to someone who can fix it.
