Hello everyone!
My name is Heath, I live in Tennessee and recently picked up a Land Cruiser. It is a 1998 Prado TX with a 1KZ-TE, auto trans, RHD. Has 122,000 kms, and is bone stock. I've only had it a few months, so just been going through and getting a baseline on services (it did not come with any records).
I have been a VW guy since 2012, so this is a whole new world for me.

Long term goals right now would be just a solid overlander/camping rig. I haven't decided how crazy I want to go with it, but plans always change.

Excited to join the Land Cruiser and 4x4 communities.

Welcome.

How common are rhd in the US? Where is it from?

And pics :) We like pics....

I haven't seen many RHD, but they do pop up every once in a while. The US has a 25 year law, at which point you can import. Mine is from Japan, bought it from an import and classic dealership not far from my old job.

Nice looking ride!

I knew America was shifting from left to right but damn that was quick

Baseline on these begins with ensuring your coolant system is in great shape which usually involves removing the radiator for inspection and a good clean .

Well thats some good information to have! Are they prone to corrosion? Or do they have bad rubber components that degrade?

I've had good luck with my VW's doing a good flush. I would drain the coolant, then run distilled water and some Cascade dishwasher soap for about a week, flush that, then replenish with coolant.

If its an automatic gearbox the oil is cooled by going through the radiator in a pipe , pipe can corrode and mix coolant and gear oil .

Besides that the a/c condenser was sandwiched so tight against the radiator in my manual truck and I was astonished to find a carpet of like dog hair or what you might find inside a vacuum cleaner stuck between the two ???

Welcome!

Great choice of vehicle, I have ‘97 RHD, but I live in Cyprus, where they drive on the left.
