Possibly reasonable 60 on eBay

Sans batteries as well. Doesn’t look too bad but given the costs and difficulties of renovation and the value of mint examples (not much) I tend to think that ones requiring a lot of work are overpriced.

mmm, they are starting to fetch a bit of money:

I personally paid £6500 for mine 3 month ago, in need of TLC albeit perfectly usable on a daily basis. I thought I may have paid over the odds for mine at the time, but looking back I now think I may have got a fair deal..

This one for instance would have cost a fair bit to recommission, (BTW, is the new owner on here?):

Nick.
I think the two you’ve linked to are a fair price but if you compare that to some of the rust buckets out there, I wouldn’t be buying one for 3k I’d be buying a decent one in the first place, because the cost of renovation will push it to well over 10k if you do the work yourself, and if you get it done, well, the skies the limit but start at £30k and work upwards. I’ve seen mint ones for around £15k which look a much better bet if that’s what’s wanted than buying one that needs loads of work. I think the original £3k one listed is a good start point if you can do the work yourself but you would need to be very careful checking for corrosive n and also the mechanicals because it’s not been used for such a long time. It’s only worth doing a rust bucket if you like the challenge!!

I paid £3.1k for mine which was the profit i made on my 80. So in effect it was free!!
But have spent loads on it so far and it still looks tatty but is mechanically and electrically very good now. I dont want it mint looking as it will get roughed up off road, but some rust patches need addressing yet.

I think there is more interest in 60's than there was say 5-10 years ago when I was buying them up to stop them all going to Africa. This strategy worked well as there are are quite a few of my old trucks in the hands of enthusiasts such as Nick which would have been lost for all time.
For a long time most 60's were about £800-1200 and for years prices didn't move ( I paid £1000 for Nicks truck 10 years ago) but prices are deffo on the move now and this is for something for which parts are becoming difficult get new or second hand.

Without cruiserworld or very expensive shipping with import duty from down under or america it would not be easy to get the parts needed for extensive repairs.
But with tenacity and focus it isnt impossible yet.

That was how I got into them, cheapest way to get 2 vehicles that could drive me and 3 guys with a ton of school books down the west coast of Africa to The Gambia. For the money there was no contest.
