I know I know another welding question but this one actually needs an answer too. I have managed to find someone local who will weld up the new feet for my rack on condition i prep the material. My guess is that he will have to wipe it down as he is going to do the work over two weeks as an odd job for me when he has the time but i need to prep the joints.

Having had a look around there are a combination of but joints, lap joints and T joints all with 10mm material. I assume the guy is going to tig the material as they are a professional fabrication setup with good gear.

Do i just need to take the edge off the material that is to be welded or is there more to it?

Just cut the metal how you want and give it a 45deg angle. buy your self a stainless steel wire brush and clean up the area around the weld as well so you dont get any crap in it.
