So I bought this 80 a couple of months back, she's a 1997 24v manual in grey.

It had been stood for 6 years before I got it so needed recommissioning.

My plan is to tidy it right up into a good useable truck. I don't plan to do any heavy off-roading or overlanding.

First few jobs included servicing, fluids and belts change. Alternator, batterys, and radiator change. Also I finally managed to get the aircon working after the pump shat itself when I had it gassed up.

A quick pic parked up with my old mans 80s

Next was swapping out the horrid sliding rear windows plus tyres and and powder coating the wheels.

Nice truck, well worth base-lining first, they respond well to some tlc.

As its been standing a while, the brakes will need to be checked over and I'd check the props too, UJs will need at the least greasing, along with the sliders.

Nice project, enjoy!

Props have been greased.

Yes I checked the brakes over, it's been stood inside so they aren't too bad and passed Mot. They will be on the list along with the exhaust which is a little rough.

Cheers

Today's task, remove the bumpers and horrid rotton tow bar ready for paint on the n/s rear quarter. Glad to say the quarter bottoms are solid.

Also removed the o/s rear arch after someone siliconed it on.....
But no rust!

The metal looks good under there at least.

The rear quarter bottoms are rusted out on my 80, it's going in the body shop for replacements next week. Leaking sliding rear widows are getting the blame, I can't think where else water has got in to rust them through like they have.

Still, it took 21 years to show, so that can't be bad can it?

The tow bar is good BTW, for anyone who wants one.

It might sell on here.

Clive I think water can get in through the rear lights not being sealed to the body from new.

Not too sure about that, my rear lights have a soft rubber gasket all round and look watertight, but I've never tested them.

Nice one, I like the altimeter, I'm using a phone ap for that type of info, but it's not so convenient.

The alti metre is better at predicting the weather im afraid..
do you have the magnetic field sensor for the compass?

Pulled the screen out and managed to get hold of a replacement bonnet and upper tailgate due to some rust starting.

Now Time for some paint.
