.........who passed away today. One of the few "proper" radio DJ's left IMO. I was, still am, a big fan of his "Sounds of the 70's" show on R2 Sunday afternoons. It was a sad day when he was forced to step down in October due to illness but on the plus side I can't think of anyone more "qualified" than Bob Harris to take the helm, especially as I was an avid OGWT viewer in the 70's. A legend follows a legend. I believe he was also a biker and owned a Harley. RIP Johnnie.

RIP Johnnie Walker

Yes, Johnny rode a Harley. I also listen to sounds of the 70s while in the workshop and Bob Harris is the perfect replacement for Johnny.
The Johnny &Tiggy double act was good during the Covid lockdown.

Yes, very sad. We were in the 80 coming back from somewhere laning when we heard his last broadcast. SOTS was the only BBC radio program I listened to ( apart from very occasionally Tony Blackburn if I was trucking early on a weekend).

As a child of the 1940s, 'Sounds of the 60s' is a favourite.

Tony Blackburn is now 80 ffs.
Johnny Walker was 79.

We don't go on forever !

Another who is mourning his passing.....
Reckon there was one helluva party last night in heaven though.... all those legends from bands who were his mates .
I miss the stories he told and the easy presenting style .... was gutted years ago when R 2 booted him off the drive time show ....
Bob is as good as the BBC could get for a replacement ....sadly when Bob and Tony go my R2 listening days will end.... the so called "talent" they have now are just a load of pretenders... not one makes me want to tune in....in fact the opposite they all make me tune out or off.... definitely all given their jobs to fill a criteria !
