Hello, I have had this problem since I hit the mirror while in reverse. It retracts perfectly but goes all the way forward when I actuate the electrical mechanism, doesn't stop in the perfect position to look behind. I have disassembled it and cannot find anything broken internally in the gears.
Is the stopping system in the right position are electronic or does it have a stop piece?

Usually if this happens a new mirror is required. They dont like to be folded forwards.

I'm going to take the other side apart to compare both systems.‍

Yeah I would pull it apart myself and have a look also.

Ok, I found the point of failure in the actuator. It is a metal washer in the lower internal part of the motor that makes the stop. In my left mirror it is deformed (flattened). And the motor circuit does not recognize when to stop. I Try to get back into shape, but after 1 or 2 movements it flattens out again and the failure returns. I will try to find a replacement for this washer or the motor.
