Back in the late 70s a hot-rodder friend from Oz, Ian, was over in the UK buying Jag back axles to send back. First scrap yard we went to was in Liverpool. It was wet and muddy and as we walked up the two Jags that were about to lose their rear axles Ian started beating the side of the cars,
"What are you doing?!" shouts the yard bloke
"Getting the snakes out" replies Ian.
Ian went on to explain that in Oz you wouldn't get under a car in a scrapyard without beating the sides, while we quietly explained that there are no snakes in Liverpool - well not living under cars in scrapyards.
