Sorry to hear that Paul, hope it's found and recovered soon and without any damage. Whilst I'm sure you're fully insured, it's not always about the monetary loss.....
As an aside, is this quite common? i.e. do 100s get stolen "to order" quite often?

I assume Port Authority (or whatever they're called) gets informed - strikes me you're awfully close to a couple of major ferry ports
and has someone checked their CCTV to see if it's gone through there?

I would imagine its long gone by now. The neighbour has cctv on their campervan so might show something but i guess that will just narrow the time frame.
Just waiting for the police to call back with a crime number so i can call the insurance company and then battle will commence!

This is the third incident of theft that I've heard of in as many days, very worrying. All locked and alarmed, plus its a fairly modern vehicle, it does make you wonder what techniques they're using to manage it undetected.
Fingers crossed it turns up.

As Scott said, how on earth have they managed to do this undetected?! I have enough trouble getting into my own truck without making a scene when the clicker fails

The police have been back round. As my area is not known for car crime they are concerned and have listed it as stolen but with specific use for crime intended (ram raid etc) as this elevates its importance for detection. If it was just a stolen case the police anpr would only update its records every morning so that would be 24 hours after the crime! This way it goes straight on now.
They have also been to all the houses in my street asking questions and have even found someone they were looking for but for an unrelated crime, so quite a result
I must say they have been very helpful, restored a bit of faith.

One of the many times my mates ford [strike:216mfgw2]takeaway[/strike:216mfgw2] escort was stolen, it was found a few months later by plod parked, yup you've guessed it, just 'round the corner of the front door of a cop shop!!! Quite a few of the officers had apparently been walking past it wondering why it had been there for so long!!!

Sorry to hear, Paul - . Buy yourself an FJ Cruiser when you get to Oz. It would be interesting to see how many 4wds are being nicked at the moment. The current issue of a 4wd UK magazine has an article about the number of Defenders being nicked - crisis levels apparently. The key results are shipment overseas and broken down for parts. Makes you wonder how many people at UK ports are turning a blind eye to these containers going out. I can recall 3-4 members on here alone having had their truck stolen. Add in the other makes and it must be a big business.
