What oil should be in the transfer box of my kzj71?

Also I changed the axle oils too and was suprised how little oil they hold 2.4l ish?

If it's an LSD rear diff you need to use LSD oil. Mine is, always had the right oil, still works at 125,000 miles. Mind you, it might have been rebuilt before I bought it at 75,000 miles

On the basis that your 71 model uses the same basic running gear as the 70 model, then the spec. for the T/box is as follows.

Oil capacity 2.1 litres.

Type---API GL4-5

Viscosity SAE 90.

I use Lucas synthetic GL5 grade with a viscosity of 75-90. You can use the same oil the main, T/box and both axles---including limited slip---with no problems. I found that the use of a synthetic ( that's fully synthetic, not a blend ), improves the gear change noticeably. Downside is the cost; expect to pay around £80 to replace the lot.
