The Dreaded 5VZFE Filter Mystery

Hi guys. Bit of a mystery today.

Just doing the ATF and the strainer in my 90 series Prado auto.

New strainer turned up in the post.

Now I am sure somebody knows right away what I am about to say.

On the engine plate for the Prado it clearly says A343F.

On consulting the dreaded terrible Haynes manual for series 90 it also confirms A343F for the 5VZFE.

Counted bolts. Sump has a 19 bolt pan.

Based on this reasoning I ordered Toyota part number : 35330-60030

This is supposed to be compatible with both A343F/A340F.

Perhaps I have just answered my own question.

Because one of these things is not like the other but it will still fit both?

Don't want to take it out of bag to try till I am sure.

What has me double confused is the old one looks like a dead ringer for the A340F filter.

Anybody got any ideas what is going on here? :)

I can't see how that could possible fit. I believe you need 35330-60020.

Best thing is to put your vin number into Amayama or Toyodiy which will give you the correct parts for your vehicle.

Thanks guys. That is really helpful. When I ordered it I went off the parts diagram at Megazip.

https://www.megazip.net/zapchasti-d...kl-596772/valve-body-oil-strainer-atm-7454765

And I can see now I had a 50/50 chance of getting the right one since both are listed.

Toyodiy confirms.

04/1996-11/2008 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER KZJ9*,LJ9*,RZJ9*,VZJ9* 35-12: VALVE BODY & OIL STRAINER (ATM) - 60030

04/1996-11/2008 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER KZJ9*,LJ9*,RZJ9*,VZJ9* 35-12: VALVE BODY & OIL STRAINER (ATM) - 60020

Lesson learned :/

Now I am trying to follow back through the surrounding cloud of part numbers to work out what is different between the A343F transmissions.
