One of the wheel holding studs on the back door isn't true so I can't get the retaining nut to go on.
Do you just use the correct die to refresh the threads?
What is the correct die size?
Cheers

Easiest way to work out what thread size and pitch you have is this:
Measure the diameter of the bolt that's supposed to go in the hole...this is your M'xx' size. The thread pitch you'll need a pitch gauge. Most tap and die kits will have the gauge included in it. Lay the comb side against the bolt threads untill you find the one that meshes perfectly, hold it up against the light to make sure it's perfect. The gauge will have the pitch stamped on it. This gives you the 2nd half of the dimension.
You'll then have say 12mm diameter (M12) x 1.5mm (pitch).
You now know what size tap to run down the old threads to clean them up.
Hope that helps and makes sense

Sorry, just r-eread your question. But essentially the same method, which will then give you the correct die size

Thanks lads.
I couldn't get a die on it because of the length of the holding bar. So I ground off a thread with the grinder and tidied up with a triangular file, nut went straight on...
