TLC HJ61 total reconditioning

Stopped by the famous Mount Mayon, an active volcano and one of the seventh natural wonders of the world. It's cone is almost perfect. The ruins in the foreground is a church built in the 1800's. It is the famous Cagsawa Ruins. Buried by mud and lava flow.

Been tracking this build from the very early days, I mist say what a great job you have done. And its nice to see the 60 now being used properly!

I have been planning this trip for a long time already. I needed the break from all the garbage of politics, business and reality. The Willie made it back without any major or minor issues. It is indeed a worthy vehicle you can take anywhere. All mine to keep.

Hi guys, I found a machine shop here in my locality of Dumaguete. It is one of the oldest and biggest machine shop around. Fortunately, they were able to bend all four primary and secondary leaf springs. (sorry, was not able to get the pictures of the springs before installation) They used a 3 roller machine used in rolling out flat steel sheets and making them into tanks or large tubes. It worked and i was able to lift the body by 2 inches. The lift greatly improved the ride and I am very satisfied. I don't know how long it will last. The price for all 4 sets is Php 2,000.00 (pesos) equivalent to US$ 40.00. This excludes the removal, dis-assembly and re-assembly and installation. Not bad.

Nice one Oding, this is great to see. After all your hard work, the 'grand tour', well deserved.

An amazing restoration, your attention to detail is fantastic. The trip looks well deserved, thankyou for sharing both

I started this drawer for the Willie. Since the longest telescopic drawer slide I can get locally is only 24" long, I had to do a little modification to pull the drawer all the way out. My drawer is 29 1/2" long. The first pic was an early design but decided to scrap the idea of a plastic pullout drawer. I used a combination of wooden slides with the roller slides.

Ordered dome lights to be installed. 1 for the front and 1 for the rear passenger area.

My body mounts are all hard and has lost its flexibility. I have been looking around for replacement but seems the aftermarket do not produce them. So I got a set directly from the UAE and Japan. Hope my rattles are gone.

Looks great Oding and not too heavy by the look of them. The barn doors look good too, never seen a 60 in the flesh with these (or an 80).
Is the project finally completed??

To preserve the originality of the Willie and the need to improve the rear tire carrier, I have designed an add-on carrier kit without too much altering the rear bumper.

I used a 1/4" checkered plate for the bracket.

Fitting it for adjustments.

The gap between the upper and lower plate was just to wide. There could be a problem of rigidity.

Below is a modified lower plate in which the gap has been narrowed down to 2".
