Transfer box question

If my memory serves, my last BJ73 had three settings on the transfer box selector.

H2 (top), L4 (bottom), H4 (Bottom right)

Does this sound right to people?

Just noticed on my new one (a 1991 model) that its got H2 (top) and L4 (bottom), and a button on the dash for H4.

The button is new to me. What are peoples experiences? Reliable?

Is it a completely different transfer box? Someone once told me that the one I had on my original 73 was rare and low ratio was very low. It meant nothing to me at the time.

Does anything I'm saying make any sense?

Time for a beer. It's been a long day.

Sorry I'm late, only just seen this

The button is normal, at least on light duty 70's. The front drive is actuated via a vacuum, which is engaged electronically. I never had an issue with mine, despite regular deep wading. I haven't heard of others having issue with this either.

It does sound like you had a different t-box on your old motor.

Thanks Jimbo.

I remember now it was H2 (top) - H4 (bottom) - L4 (across)

Must admit i'd prefer manual. if i can find one I'll probably swap.
