Winch tray or winch bumper .

That'll do nicely Shayne, good choice. Chunky 'requires 30.5mm hole'. Electrical porn! [emoji4]

My choice has always been the Varta G7 and G8 batteries for twin battery Toyotas, they have a bit more Ah than standard 95Ah as opposed to 75Ah (from memory) and around the same money from battery megastore.

Genuine Toyota, impressive. Not sure about the two year warranty though as others give longer, 4 years on the Bosch ones I fitted for not an awful lot more each than those.

Trev takes credit for the isolator and he's right with the batteries as well , i could swear it didn't have 12v 70ah written in the description of Toyota batteries yesterday so maybe Roughtrax spies on us which can only be a good thing .

Did battery megastore offer a discount to forum members a while back or was that an offer ends Sunday sort of thing ? Funny thing is Helen's truck has Varta G7 and G8 batteries :shifty:

Made some progress today but my 4" Erbauer grinder packed up before i finished trimming the bumper , this was the second one that packed up in short order after little work so a waste of 40 quid if anyone is thinking of buying one . Screwfix didn't quibble about giving me a replacement the first time and were happy to deduct the price off a slightly more expensive Makita today so fair play to them

Does anyone know the thread size of my recovery hook bolts ? my local supplier doesn't stock fine thread so i thought it was m12 x 1.5 , but i have just tried an old wheel nut on it and its not looking good .

Hi Shayne I saw this and thought of you buddy eBay item number 311310159726 wireless winch remote

I need to find this thread size or i will be going out this weekend with nowhere on the front of the truck to recover from . It screws into the chassis it looks the same size as a wheel stud but its not , a fine thread and marked 8 on top .

I know this sounds bad but can't you remove one from the back of your truck where the tow bar is as they will be the same

I had already decided worst case scenario that's what i will have to do while whoever is pulling me out sits around waiting , sods law dictates if i swap it around now i will need pulling out backwards :icon-rolleyes: I'm not sure they will be long enough in any case . Can't find my bloody tap and die set which has a gauge in it .

I know this doesn't help buddy but if you lived closer I've got a box of nuts n bolts uno the ones what don't need putting back  lol and I'm sure they would be something there to help

Have you got a breakers yard near you might be able to find one there ?

Must be M12 X 1.25 high tensile , well thats what i have ordered anyway so fingers crossed .

M12 X 1.25 was the right thread size for KZJ90 towing points so there you go its on the web now for the next guy who needs to know .

Another thumbs up from battery superstore to , i did phone but the overstock has sold so there ebay price is their best price , still a bargain though considering i hit buy it now about 1.30pm yesterday and they arrived at my door 8.30am this morning

Something worryingly amiss about the mounting bolts i think , should the winch feet be threaded or am i missing some fancy nut that goes in here ?

I don't like the previous owners quick fix it's not even fine thread high tensile just off the shelf nylon locking nuts ground down so much to fit that the nylon shows through the side .

Its a Ramsey winch by the way .

Any suggestions please ?

Maybe something like the superwinch tiger shark where you slide the square nuts and washers in the slots.

Thanks Firewout , must admit i am shocked at how light duty mounting bolts seem to be in general while searching the web .

My Superwinch has a similar mounting, simple washer and square nut captured in each of the slots on your photo Shayne. IMO, the mounting system doesn't have to be very substantial. Pull on the winch holds the feet of the winch in compression against the mounting face of the tray or bumper, so all the bolts do is prevent sideways movement, and the winch falling off when not in use.

On this theme, the mounting feet are in weak cast material, for the same reason, IMO.

Certainly gave me pause for thought i will be mounting it feet forward instead of feet down now .

Oh yes, feet forward mate, every time!

2 long winch mount bolts on the bottom feet, also mounting the house fairlead (if using synthetic); and 2 slightly shorter winch mount bolts above.
