Work Woes

.

I too prefer almost any “old” architecture over the new glass and stainless stuff going up these days,
Even this one in Prague Clive, it looks better in the flesh so to speak, you could almost imagine it moving.

The Dancing House (Czech: Tančící dům), or Fred and Ginger, is the nickname given to the Nationale-Nederlanden building on the Rašínovo nábřeží (Rašín Embankment) in Prague, Czech Republic. It was designed by the Croatian-Czech architect Vlado Milunić in cooperation with Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry on a vacant riverfront plot. The building was designed in 1992 and completed in 1996.[1]

Down in Luanda - Angola now.
30 deg C out but not a safe place to go out wandering alone, apart from the 200m walk between hotel and office...
Heaps of Landcruiser and hilux here, will try and get some pics

Went for a walk in the gym instead...

On first pic, the Nissan pickup at bottom of photo has a RTT and awning, possibly a Chevron employee

Almost no ‘Cruisers here in Montreal. Loads of GMC, Chevy, and Fords as you’d expect, and lots of Toyota cars.

A bit of snow Saturday evening, sunny day on Sunday so most of ot melted, and a bit more in the early hours of this morning, -10C at the moment...

Looks like the weather UK has at the moment

Looks like the weather UK has at the moment

Just had a browse at the BBC news and the pics are very similar. It's still snowing (all day from 6am to now 4:15pm and forecast for all night and all day tomorrow.

I'll post a pic if it gets dramatic, its -10C and about 30cm deep atm, and the forecast is for snow and -12C tomorrow

But it's no fun without the Truck... :icon-cry:

Do you get home for Christmas Clive? Have you asked father Christmas to send your truck a pressie???

Do you get home for Christmas Clive? Have you asked father Christmas to send your truck a pressie???

I’m getting on a plane at 7:00 pm this Friday 15th Ben, thankfully! Only 2 days to go.

I’ll be home by lunchtime on Saturday, all being well

My truck gets pressies all year round, so nothing special for Christmas. My pressie is being at home, its enough.

Nice to be home :icon-biggrin:

Saturday afternoon I was like a zombie, and on Sunday not much better. And I was out-voted and had to drive our tichy little car to take my daughter to her school Cristmas party.

I hate driving cars, it’s like being in a go-kart.

Monday I drove the 80 to work, first time in 4 weeks... ahhhh

Fantastic...

Do you have to go back to Canada after Christmas,Clive?

Do you have to go back to Canada after Christmas,Clive?

Put it this way Pat, my offer to go was conditional on it only being 6 weeks, end of.

And that was an agreement.

But who knows

The short (and hopefully correct) answer, is no

Merry Christmas

Well, another but shorter one-week trip to Montreal looks to be on the cards, dunno when exactly but soon. It doesn’t bother me really, but I’ve just had a real bummer of a long weekend here.

It was May Day yesterday (national hol) and we were given Monday as a bridging day, so we were looking forward to a nice long weekend of 4 days with some friends coming to stay at the house.

The weather is perfect at the moment, Springtime, sunny and warm, 25C not usual at this time of year, but great for a few days off.

The run-up plan to this w/e was 10 working days finishing off a due diligence report for Montreal, then 10 working days preparing an adjudication response on another project.

Just my luck, the first job hit a snag which extended the 10 days by another 7 leaving me with 3 days for the second job (and that’s not enough).

What’s more, the only 3 days available were Sat/Sun and Monday (bang on the holiday w/e).

Not happy, wife not happy, kid not happy...

Adjudications wait for no man, so I had to knuckle down.

So while at the house, I locked myself in one of the spare rooms: Saturday worked till 3am Sunday; Sunday worked till 2am Monday; and Monday worked till 7:30pm and submitted - Hooray!!!

Tuesday I cut the grass  It’s therapeutic. :icon-biggrin:

And little things like that made me happy again... spent some time with Ana too...

OK, boring photos again, but there we are, this is my bit of paradise here...
