Well the weekend for the dads and kids camping came back up in the dales, the group again planning to go to gaping gill cave system, more a fan of driving over rocks then crawling under.

Got the 80 loaded up and off we went, stayed at a camp site we regularly use.

Got the tent all set up and time to test out my new camp bed, Lily has my old one rather then the air bed she had, she kept complaining about being cold in it.
I got myself a bed chair from fishing section at go outdoors.... Very comfortable and Lily slept good too

Nice burger and chips, a good test for the new table

It was about time for a break, we dropped down into Hawes

Had a good wander round the tasting room and bought some nice fresh cheese too.
They also have some nice ice cream

Then onto some more lanes, the weather turned again and the rain hammered down

Things were getting slippery on the rocks, further down this lane is a set of bigger steps/rocks, it's cam high road/lane, I planned on some pics of the 80 all flexed as we got to the steps, well best laid plans and all that....

It was raining hard and we suffered a casualty with the 80, the biggest of the steps you take while taking a slight left bend, well wet slippery rocks, downhill and a heavy 80 series...

Gently dropped the fronts wheels down then gravity took hold, the 80 slid sideways to the right with the brakes on!!!! I just let the brakes off and drove into it

Well it landed hard as the back wheel dropped off, it broke the screws for the back bumper and I think I've bent the exhaust as it's knocking a bit, built tough these motors!

We did about 85miles all in and drove some great lanes, little scenery shot in the rain

Back to camp, the wind and rain meant I had to move the stove back to the tailgate deck to cook the chicken stir fry and rice

Late night burger for a snack

One tired girl the next morning still, good daddy woke her up with a bacon sarnie at the ready

The new table set up worked brilliant and the revised layout is working well

Good to see a Dales camping and laning trip. Some nice lanes down there.
Nice camping setup , thanks for the photos looked like a great weekend

Some great lanes, Dales, Moors and Lake district are great for laning and camping. Peak district just feels like waiting for confrontation imo.
We came across a lot of folk walking, spoke to a few and were all friendly.
Only other vehicles on the lanes were a pair of landys and a nice little 70 series.

Great trip report and pics Gary.

New table seems to be working really well. :icon-biggrin:

@Chris She did really well, it was the longest time and distance she's done in a day on the lanes. No complaints of being bored etc. I'd planned the route with stops and short cuts if needed.

@Ben yeah it's working nicely, I didn't use the wood extension as didn't need the extra space, having to cook on the tailgate due to weather it still got used to pile stuff on. The spare wheel made a good wind break too.

Getting the set up refined now even better with the bag on the spare wheel, they are so handy.

Great trip, and as said, good to see Lily enjoying!

What actually broke then Gary? I must admit, on the first read, I thought the swing-out had fallen off!

Did the bumper succeed to save you from body damage?

I think we need some photos of this damage mate, what do you recon?

Had a look this morning

I've broken the drivers side rear bumper/mudflap bit and Bent the exhaust (it's knocking on the chassis now)
The bolt that holds the bumper to the rear cross member has broken off, bracket that holds the bumper to the body is gone. Scraped the arch extension a bit. All superficial trim damage and has some cable ties holding it together lol. Cross member needs a re paint too. Lamp in the bumper isn't working either.

I didn't want to get out and look when it landed with bang! Annoyingly it wouldn't of even touched if it didn't slide.
