Your Nepal holiday starts here

That airstrip is a great little airstrip. It does NOT NEED to have a long runway.

The airstrip is at or above the normal ceiling height of small aircraft. Fly up the valley and approach air strip then apply FULL power to go higher then the cliff, land on the airstrip and cut power, no real need to apply brakes as airstrip runs steeply uphill. Just hope that air traffic control has cleared the runway of wandering cows first!.

Taking off is quite easy, a quick run downhill lift off about 6 feet then continue losing height as the cliff falls away from you.

Forget the GPS it is amusing when you see the pilot stick his feet up on the dash!. Navigation is quite simple, just avoid the mountains on both sides and fly down valley.

Yes planes have crashed at Lukla!

A great airstrip
