YouTube problem

I have recently started to have a problem when trying to view YouTube, I get no sound, the volume slider bar at the bottom is no longer there.
Yes I do have my PC volume turned up, this only happens on YouTube.
Any ideas chaps?

Yes other sounds, iTunes, my videos etc all have sound. I have downloaded Flash player (with google chrome and without) more times than I can count but although it says installed it doesn't want to work.
