Hi guys.. first time in the 70 series section here, hoping someone can enlighten me a little....
anyone tell me if a t-case from a lj70 is the same as a lj78 or are they a different beast?
ratios different at all? different engines have different boxes? (if they came with different engines?)...
its a few months since i posted about it now, but i thought i'd throw up an update.. might be of some use to someone in the future perhaps?
i know theyre not under a LC80, but might still be relevant?
No luck finding a 2nd hand unit, and i really couldnt justify ordering a new one from...
just a little vitara 1.6 8v carby motor...
its not the quickest thing going, but easy to work on and hasn't let me down yet :)
1.58(h)/4.16(l):1 t-case gears and 4.88:1 r&p's make the 38's run like the standard size wheels (according to gear calculators)
i did buy a lexus soarer 4.0l v8...
i actually bought a complete second hand axle off of ebay - after asking the question if the actuator was a good'un and being told yes...
it arrived and it looked like it was about a month off of looking like mine! so i assumed it was probably a common fault with them.... thankfully i got most...
got it covered ;)
the tube arches cover just over half the width of the tread, and its got attachment points for some light vinyl to cover the rest of the way round :) will have the same setup for the rears too when i finish off the cage and rest of the tube...

rear diff lock actuator... had a quick look using the search and found a few replacement threads, but im hoping perhaps for a pointer in a different direction?
my difflock actuator came off the axle looking...

Stumbled onto the forum thanks to mike hatton - i was his "winch bitch" this past weekend at the Lincomb do, although i think the only winching we did was due to me getting stuck in one of the bomb-holes :mrgreen: (i'm blaming his Isuzu for that one *ahem*...)
