Good day to all & thanks for exepting me in the group.
My dream car was a Toyota Land cruiser back home & i owned 4 Rangerovers before i moved to the lovely UK.. In 2004 i bought my Toyota Hdj80 1993 with 52k on it & 380k later , the engine started to make a funny noise ,so i took the engine ,gear box & tc out & bought a Cummins 6bt12v & a ZFs542 gear box & in process of fitting in the Toyota ...... Dooing all the work myself is taking time ,but worthit as im not cutting corners at all & maybe , i am over killing it ....
Any one on here done the same ??
Thanks

Welcome. Fairplay thats a decent under taking i used to work on those engines a fair bit along time ago. I always thought they would be a bit heavy. I know in the landys they can bend the chassis if driven hard. Its a fantastic engine though good luck and keep us posted.

Where abouts are you based now?

A good engine in a tractor or light truck..... how's the gearing going to work out when 2800 rpm is about max for a 6BT and a 1HDT revs to over 4000 ....
Are you changing diffs or ratios anywhere ?
A great project and a fair job.....be interesting to follow progress

Good day to all again Grimbo .... the diffs are 3:7on the land cruiser, Transfer case 1:1 & the fifth gear on the ZF is 0.77 That means that the cummins will do 69mph at 2000 rpm with 33 inch wheels . I am still changing the Govnor spring to 3500rpm & changing valve springs as that will make the Cummins more responsive . Also , Im based on the Wirral ,Merseyside.
