Hey everyone I'm Jake and I'm new to here.

Just wondering before I go and buy the part.

Today my fuel gauge started flashing the fuel light and reading below empty for both tanks when I switch it over from main to empty.

Now Mr Google has said fuel sending unit.

My question on top of my previous one is do I need to buy one for both tanks or just the main??

I believe each tank has a sender that sends their readings by way of milliohms or something to a switch which then connects to the gauge. So it’s more likely the gauge isn’t working rather than both senders failing at the same time? Just my thoughts of course.

No worries il have a look at the dash and see if something is missing or has come off

What year is your 105? A similar thing happened to my 105 - after months of investigations, and me pretty much pulling the whole car apart looking for blown fuses/ solenoids/ relays I managed to speak to someone at Toyota who said that there is a know fault in the original dash, which was corrected in later models, although I'll have to dig out when it was corrected.

The fix is a new dash, at a staggering cost ( at least here in the uk). I opted to put in my own sender and gauge.

Not saying this is definitely the problem, but just something to consider.

Are you still hearing the solenoid clunk when you push the subtank switch?

Hey mate she is a 2001 model.
Yeah I can still hear it click over.

So when I turn it on the gauges reads 3 quarters which is wrong but after about 5 seconds goes straight to below empty and flashing of the fuel light and all the over gauges work fine.

Will it still be wire behind the dash before I go ripping it all out.

Also I just got my AC re done and it was working before I went in and now this problem ‍♂️

I shower then and they said all they did was pull both batteries off and that was it
