I bought a 200 series cover from Extreme Seat Covers but when it turned up, it was miles away from fitting so I ended up with an extra large universal cover which seems OK and will be fine for the dog. The Escape Gear covers are less eye wateringly expensive than I thought they would be so that...
Does anyone have a reccomendation for a waterproof rear seat cover for a 2012 UK spec Land Cruiser 200 please? I'm based in the UK so a UK supplier would be preferred.
LX570 AHC “Basics” - Added as sticky thread for AHC Issues - [Leaving Land Cruiser Club]
There is a pretty big thread on IH8MUD about AHC. I haven't searched the posts but there might be something on there or leave a post.
My only thought was that you could try disconnecting the battery as it...
I had a play with mine yesterday - 200 series, 2012 UK model and I came to the conclusion the switch was simply an in or out option. There is no automatic in when ignition off option.
Can you go through the options to see if it is a noise associated with a specific item?
Can you do the off road without low range
With / without CDL turned on
Suspension high / low
It might give you an indication where to start.
I bought a 200 in the UK. It's a brilliant truck and I'd echo what Chris Harris says about his in his recent review.
My main advice is to take a torch and have a crawl around underneath. I saw two or three that looked perfect on the outside but were pretty rusty underneath.
It's big...
The chinese heater debate often rages on the self build motorhome forums so it will be interesting to see how you get on.
I've just priced a Webasto one up and it is £1500 although that is to replace the existing chinese one that has given up the ghost.
This morning I rented a two poster ramp at my local garage and replaced the front brake pads, lubricated the prop shaft, rotated the wheels around and sprayed some Lanoguard on.
The wheels, which are the standard 20" alloys with Dunlop Grandtrek tyres are bloody heavy. I'm sure on my 80...
I'll be interested to see how you get on with the AT's. I considered going to AT's but in the end I went for the OEM Dunlop Grandtrek's. It was partly that any 20" tyre was going to have to be relatively low profile and I wasn't a fan of a low profile AT tyre.
I've looked at getting some 17"...
I don't know how the technology works but I swear by them and I have a collection of them keeping various batteries alive - Land Cruiser, motorcycle, boat.
My motorcycle battery is at least ten years old and still going strong.
I must be a CTEK salesman's dream - all the gear and no idea!
For the vertical pieces you could cut lightening holes in them. You can generally cut about 50% of the depth of the 'web' away without affecting the strength.
Whilst it is more work you can reduce the thickness of the top by adding some stiffening underneath. Alternatively if you know where...
It's about £18 per litre so of the fluids you chuck in your truck, it's probably the most expensive in terms of £ per litre.
From some of the pictures on IH8MUD of AHC fluid, that looks pretty clean so it possibly was changed by the garage. It's also the right colour for AHC fluid.
Has it previously been filled up with brake fluid?
It should be filled up with this stuff.
5 Litres Genuine Toyota AHC Suspension Fluid - [Leaving Land Cruiser Club]
Just to add to this, looking at the Roughtrax website it suggests using brake fluid will erode the polymer seals in the AHC...
If you manage to get extricate the 200 FSM from the 46GB, I'd be very interested in a copy.
It's not just Craddock's. I had woeful service from Mr T. If you want it doing properly, you either need to give it to an enthusiast or do it yourself.
What a sad day.
His passing will leave a large hole, in all respects, in the UK Land Cruiser world.
A thoroughly nice chap, a fountain of knowledge of all things Land Cruiser and the previous owner of my 80.
Overthinking it - if you are planning on a west to east trip in the northern hemisphere, sitting on the left would mean you would have the sun 'behind' you. Sadly, I go through this thought process if I catch a ferry / train / plane.
On mine there is a centre difflock which is below and to the right of the steering wheel. The axle diff locks are replaced by the crawl control mode which I think plays with the ABS to transfer power between wheels to extricate you from whatever you've driven into.
My 2012 one doesn't have a...
I'd read about it on IH8MUD and a few other forums so I was paranoid when I did mine. I suspect it would more likely to be a garage that would do it unintentionally rather than an owner but I guess if you've bought a 200 and have either yet to have it serviced or you let Mr T (or another fly by...
If you press the Setup button on the central screen and go into General, there is a language option.
The will change it for the infotainment system but I don't know whether it will do it for the other dashboard items.
Is this an Easter promotion or something more long term?
The green oval brigade also have them but only for use immediately before you try and start them.
Funnily enough I've just taken my 200 to Toyota for a service. We are going away in it, I was running out of time and Toyota were offering a 12 month warranty if the vehicle was less that 10 years old and 100,000 miles, which mine qualifies for.
I added a couple of options to the service and...
There seems to be a fair bit of negative discussion about the willingness of the gearbox to change down when faced with the slightest incline. There are a number of 'solutions' that I think lock the gearbox in the higher ratio's. I don't tow sufficiently to warrant looking into it and in my...
I don't specifically know about a Sahara but in a 2012 UK version, the answer is yes
You can move the gear selector from D to S and then manually select the highest gear you want to be in. In this mode the cruise control still works. I use it for towing where it suggests you should put it in...
The readings are giving a discrepancy of 2mm to 3mm over a distance of nearly 3m which equates to 0.1%. I don't know how accurate the measuring machine is.
It's the only way I can tell I'm going uphill is when it changes down several gears. If I happen to be overtaking something at the time, I tend to get a look from the other driver suggesting I'm an impatient knob. It makes Messr's Shell and BP etc happy though so I'm doing my bit for the...
I've had a couple of Outwell director's chairs. I quite like sitting upright and it makes tending my little Weber BBQ easy.
I do understand the lure of the super duper comfortable ones though.
Maybe the Sahara spec is different but the UK 200 from 2012 has 60W HB3 halogen bulbs for the main beam. I seem to recall reading that it had been done on purpose so they were 'field replaceable'.
Maybe this lot can help...
I think at the moment the power requirements for a large 4x4 cannot be met by battery power alone. A hybrid option - smaller combustion engine operating more efficiently with a traditional drive train but supported by batteries may be a potential interim solution.
We've been looking at hybrid...
This is probably a better explanation of how money is 'created'. Reading some of the above (as I try to deal with the effects of Covid) puts us in the realms of conspriracy theories, a bit like QAnon and I don't think they are particularly helpful in making the world a better place...
