What is this sensor / component on the inlet manifold?

That valve open and closes the small butterfly valve in the throttle body to stop rough shutdown when you turn off the engine. The EGR actuator is the one below that with the black and white filter on.

    Sad day, Don't hate me

@karl2000 yes it does have a 4x4 high and low range but no centre diff. You can only use either on muddy or slippery conditions. It drives in 2 wheel high otherwise and the front prop and driveshafts are not turning unless in 4wd. So far I am averaging 32mpg solo and 28 towing my caravan...

    Sad day, Don't hate me

Tony I have just bought a Rexton as it has a similiar ride quality to the Colorado that I had. It was the only SUV with a ladder chassis/body combo. Still miss the cruiser but needed to got something for towing the caravan and something to get insurance for trips to France and Europe that didnt...

    Throttle pedal sensor plug

Hi Tony. If you are looking for another throttle booster try looking at www.4X4works.co.uk. They sell the iDrive EVC Throttle controller. Its similar to the pedal monster but sold in the UK. You will need to look under Prado 120.

Removal of Plastic Trim -- Rear Wheel Arches?

You need to remove the inner trim panel to expose the clips in the inner wing. They have a tongue on the clips which I turned gently with pliers and the clips come out. Some stubborn ones had to be squeezed together to remove them. I replaced these with new ones. Touch wood you won't break many...

    Need new front prop UJ's

Thanks for all your replies. Going to order the joints tomorrow along with a new gearbox mounting as that has come apart on one side as well. The joys of owning a 24 year old truck. @Shayne Thanks for the heads up about the bolts ,will try and remember that when I take the prop off.:)

    Need new front prop UJ's

Hi Guys. When checking my truck today I noticed that both UJ's in the front prop are worn. Have filled them with grease at the moment to keep using the truck for a couple of days. What make of joints would you or have you used. I fitted a Roughtrax one in the rear last year. Milner use TOYO...

How to check Dome light switch?

Hi. I have had the same problem but on a window switch on my sons Picanto. I got it working by filling the switch with brake cleaner and operating it on and off a few times to clean the carbon off of the contacts inside. Got it working but very slowly at first but is now working as new. Your...

Sunroof leaking and not working 100% electrically? Pics

Hi .My interior light switch did the same as yours but if I moved it back and forwards slightly in the "on" position it worked. I found it was the contact point on the swivel part of the switch wasn't connecting in the on position. Pinched one of the wifes emery nail boards and cleaned it up and...

    Rustproofing, updating methods and products.

Hi Shayne looking at the link to the lance you put up the valve in the middle is marked 1/4 . That looks like the 1/4 inch BSP valves we used at work( British standard pipe thread) if that's any help to you at all.

Aerial won’t fully extend and reverse camera stopped working.

You need to reset your aerial. Turn the radio on and once the aerial has stopped moving use the up button to fully extend it. When you turn the radio/ignition off it should fully retract. It should work fine until you next disconnect the battery. This worked on my brother-in-laws Prado, should...

Decided I Will Sell After All

I know how you feel Stuzbot. I am thinking of selling mine(have been for about a year if I'm honest) but then I drive it or tow my caravan with it and I start to think" What am I selling it for and just what do I get instead!" Good luck with the move and keeping/selling the Cruiser. PS if you...

    DC2DC charger in a caravan

@Allan M That is what I am going to do I think. I have been on Youtube looking at videos about charging lithium batteries properly and they use the Sterling Wildside DC/DC charger which utilises the 13pin plug and wiring on the caravan. But I dont want the wiring in the van altered as it still...

    Forte Advanced Formula Diesel Treatment

Hi Steve. I remember reading somewhere that the two stroke oil does lubricate the pump, etc due to the low sulphur in modern diesel. I recall the Mercedes Paris-Dakar team using it when buying diesel from the locals.

    DC2DC charger in a caravan

Thanks for all the replies. @David I was looking at the Victron Orion DC/DC and using Anderson connectors at the back of the truck to connect to the caravan. That way I dont have to cut into the caravan loom and it keeps it simple to wire up and use. Also when I change the van I can easily...

    DC2DC charger in a caravan

Thanks for that Chris. I will have a look at some wiring and connectors to mount the charger in the van. I have been looking at the Sterling wildside chargers but that means cutting into the van loom and really want to avoid that if I can.

    DC2DC charger in a caravan

Hi. I have just fitted a lithium battery in my caravan hooked up to a 100watt solar panel with an MPPT solar controller. I want to fit a DC/DC charger. Does this need to go in the caravan or should I fit it in the truck? I was thinking of using Anderson connectors to supply the charger along...

    Exhaust bracket squeak/rattle when idling

You could do it yourself while you are in quarantine. Its only a matter of taking the two bolts out, split the joint and cover the inside surfaces with copper grease and reassemble. But glad it worked for you anyway.

    Got One at Last!

stuzbot those buttons on the dash for your aerial are for when you are off-roading. You can lower the height of the aerial so it doesn't get damaged on trees, etc. It doesn't switch the aerial off and will probably reset itself when you turn the ignition off . The only way to stop the thing...

    Got One at Last!

Hi. Bit late to the party but just watched and listened to your video. Do you have an electric aerial fitted to your truck? That noise when you turn your ignition on sounds just like my electric aerial going up then stopping when fully out. Then when you turn off it goes down again. Your noise...

    Seat Belt Chime

Just looked at your post with the pictures and yours is almost deffo a uk spec model same colour as mine as well. Just thinking out loud. Seat Belt Chime

Stuzbot is your Colorado an import by any chance? I ask because my brother-in -law had an import and his beeped every time the ignition was turned off and the keys where left in. It even beeped when he first got in and put the key into the ignition before he started it up.

    Exhaust bracket squeak/rattle when idling

Hi. If you can lever the joint apart against the springs(use your wheel brace from your jack kit or a screwdriver) squirt some grease from the tube in-between the joint and let it close up. Dont use your fingers to try and put it in because if you slip IT BITES. If you have a 14mm spanner with...

What Sets the Alarm Off?... And What Prevents It Going Off?

The alarm siren is inside the drivers wing between the battery and the ABS unit. There should be a multi plug on the back. This will kill the noisy bit but dont know if your indicators will still flash or not.
  35. Steve H

    What are those..

Does your LC have a flash lube fitted for the LPG? Is the red light to let you know its empty and needs refilling? Sorry if you have already checked this but just asking.

    Exhaust bracket squeak/rattle when idling

Flint in post 3 has given you the French for copper grease (cant do the copy thing). In your picture the bottom bolt looks bent . Have you grounded out on something? I found that even if you cant lever it apart a good dose of WD40 sprayed on the top of the joint and let it drip down the sides...

    Exhaust bracket squeak/rattle when idling

It will be that joint. quick fix is as Flint says, Lever the joint apart if you can then sqirt some copper grease or wd40 into it. wont last long but works. Only way to fix permenantly is to relace joint inside when you get back. If you can while your away take the joint apart and cover the...

    Daytime Running Light DRL

Hi Hope these help. You can see the hole I was talking about in the back of the bar. The clamps simply go round the bar and have a lip facing up to mount the lights to. I have moved mine inwards for now as I am repainting my fog lights but its too cold to paint them at the moment.

Spare switched / ignition live point?

The drivers side is rated at ten amps I believe and has a proper ciggy lighter with a catch to hold the lighter in while it heats up. The passenger side doesn't have the catch inside, just the contacts. These sockets also have a fuse on the back where the wires connect. Its two insulating plates...

    Daytime Running Light DRL

  44. Steve H

Spare switched / ignition live point?

Not sure if yours is the same as my Collie but the passenger side ciggy lighter is a power feed. Under the bonnet the fuse box says front power socket on the lid and is rated at 20amps. You could plug something into that socket and pull the fuse to check if it goes dead tomake sure we are...

Spare switched / ignition live point?

Not sure if you where thinking of powering your seats off that fuse box as well as extra bits and pieces. Didnt want you to overload your ciggy lighter feed. Maybe I misread what you meant as well.

    Daytime Running Light DRL

Those lower lights are on Toyota mounts. They clamp around the bar with two pieces that bolt together. I have those on my truck . On your bar see if you have two small holes in the position those lights are in . They locate the clamp on the back clip to stop it moving down as your driving along...

Recommendations for replacement front seats + rail mods

Not sure on the colours for the wiring but I would think that something like an electric aerial switch would work for the support so you can adjust it both ways.
  48. Steve H

Spare switched / ignition live point?

If you have already wired in a relay before, why not wire in another one from the battery to your new fuse box and use the switched feed from your ciggy lighter to power it on. Put a fuse as close to the battery as you can and then fit your relay as normal. This would give you more than enough...

    Help with Towbar wiring

Hi Adrian. When you don't have your trailer plugged in the brass strip connects the feed to the eighth pin which is connected to your truck fog lights.
