since you are discussing about the rear heater, i might as well as post my question here and hope that someone will be able to help.
I noticed for 3 days now that there is some sort of a foul sweet smelling odor coming out from where the rear heater fan is located. i looked into it with a...
Hi,
In a span of 1 year, I have replaced my CV boot on the passenger side twice. It's not lifted and nothing touches the boots when I checked. It always rips horizontally. Has anyone of you experienced this? Any ideas on what casues the horizontal rip? Thanks.
some updates with my prado v6..

2. used seafoam on my gas tank
3. used seafoam using the pcv hose to clean then plenums

You may want to use OEM Toyota bushings...I heard that the polybushes squeak. To order, no idea. Am based in Manila. :(
The bolts that hold the bushes in the arms tend to get stubborn and get stuck. An acetylene torch was used by my mechanic. We just replaced the bolts. Some have easier times...
exactly the same with what happened to mine- (going left back followed by right forward)...it turned out to be the front lower control arm bushings - LCAs..... it took me 3 months to discover the cause...i also mistakenly replaced my right CV joint....tsk tsk.
you probably have one side only...
Am not sure with this but when I filled up mine- pan removed and filter cleaned. I have replaced it with 5 liters of ATF and the level ( measured cool is just between the correct level)....
I ALSO HAVE A 3.4 v6 pRADO....
yes it does...metal flat aluminum ( about 6 inches by 3 inches) with fine screen mesh inside. i did not replace mine. I just used a paint brush and degreaser to clean it. washed with soapy water then blown- pressurised ( light) air in and out to dry it.
just replaced my PCV valve...still rattling but 13 years I think is enough. I also changed my fuel filter with part number 23300-62030...not available in auto supplies...just from the Toyota dealership.
some help needed:
1. i would like inquire what are the symptoms of worn out lower control...
I just did my oil change today.
Used Shell fully synthetic 5+ liters (5w-40) but before that, we used 3 liters of engine oil flush from caltex ( ran for 2 mins) ...
then used oil filter code 111 from VIC. Hopefully, it will clean the engine.
Thanks, Bob.
Aside from knowing that the sup was an ex- toyota elec man, I saw one of his gadgets...the most sought after OBDII scanner...12USd per plug and scan vs Toyota's 70 USD.
GAsket of the engine cover seems to be leaking some oil also. I will have that addressed after 2k kms more just in...
Finally solved my "constant cold temp gauge"....After weeks of trying to find the culprit and hours of surfing the web, I brought my truck to one of the shops near to my house. It turned out that the mechanioc supervisor used to be an Ex- Toyota electrical specialist. He told me that there is a...
I just took out my throttle body and cleaned it together with the IAC..i also cleaned the MAF sensor..
i will try to drive it for a couple of kms later and monitor the consumption after a tank full of petrol. hopefully, i will be able to solve my hard starting and high fuel consumption.

i cannot seem to find the fix for my faulty temp gauge..it kicks by an inch as soon as i start the engine then just stays on the lowest level...it rises by a few milimmeters once in a while but still. it stays just at those range.
