Just returned from my first trip to the pictures for years and besides being devastated they no longer have a pause in the middle of the film so you can replenish your bucket of popcorn i was disappointed by the film "12 years a slave" . Helen on the other hand loved every minute of it . I think the difference is i have always been an avid of historical fiction whereas the whole concept of slavery is new to Helen . I strongly advise anyone who is interested in the film to buy the book instead , i've just ordered it and i have no doubt it will put the film to shame just like Papillon by Henri Charrière .

Whilst you are in the mood, try and see 'The Railway Man.'

Awesome adaptation of Eric Lomaxs autobiography.
