Hi Team,

I'd say this has been raised before as it seems a common problem, but I'm new here so any info much appreciated.

My hi/low range selector vibrates like crazy at highway speed and now seems to be getting worse (starting to vibrate at lower speeds and anything above 2,000rpm). Vehicle has 72,000Km and not much off-road work but 30,000Km towing a 3T van. Does anyone know of the best fix and where in Vic I could get any work done.

Thanks.

Depends on what is the cause of the vibes. Any vibration in the driveline is transferred to the little stick, as it is fastened directly onto the gearbox. There is a nylon grommet and a wavy spring washer on the bottom of the stick, which wears out and creates more noise. I have found the need to service this joint every 3-4 years to keep it quiet. But also bad injectors, worn UJs or worn engine mounts will contribute to a noisy stick.
