What is the biggest tyre I can fit under a original LJ73 '88.

Beaucaus the tyre size now is 225/75/16 and i wanne put 235/85/16 under it, whitout lifitng the car. But some poeple say its to big it won't fit when your offroading.

someone experience whit this size?

thanks

Biggest you can go with no rubbing on standard suspension and no body lift is 31" (31x10.5R15 with standard steel rims). 235/85R16 comes out at 31.7x9.3R16 so it would be pushing it but depending on how accurate the tyres are to their sizing and as long as they are not over size they might JUST fit but you could end up with minor rubbing. It might be worth looking for 265/75R16?

I guess it also depends on if your suspension is holding up well, or is sagging ?

I fitted 265/75R16 with no lift - works out a smidge taller than you're planning at 32". Only rubbing issues I had were due to not enough offset - more down to the tyre width than the height. Rubbed ever so slightly on the front trailing arms at full lock, wasn't even enough to fail the MOT test on.

You'll be fine with that tyre size

So nothing that a pair of spacers wont fix ??
