250 series on the road?

At our local dealer this morning

I saw one in person yesterday and I have to say I was impressed. It was an all black car. Really striking, did have a very jeep feel renagade type thing on steroids. Didn't see the inside as it was in a car park and didn't want to look like I was trying to nick it.

Oddly I did clock they have gone back to 6 stud wheels.

As far as I'm aware the Prado models have all had 6 studs.

Was it good enough to sink £80K into Stu?

Did a double take today thinking i'd seen a 250 only to realize it was a new ford ranger with a box on the back in a sort of yellow colour

Well......I know I'm always the fly in the thrush cream, but ....as good as I'm sure they are and maybe the best option on the new market at the moment but I got to say I'm not that taken with them. Admittedly not seen one in the flesh but the pictures I've seen don't hit the spot for me.

I think the nod to the older style historic look is it's biggest selling appeal. I never took to the looks of the 150.

They are much bigger than the 90 and 120. Wider really

Photo above should be turned 90 degree.

The parts guy asked me " do you want the key?" I was so tempted but there was no one in the Sales team. So I said no. Don't want to get him into trouble.
Both are diesel according to him. And most order will take 6months or more to deliver!!

Having just looked it's amazing how heavy they are. Looks like half a ton heavier than a 120! 200kg more than a 150. Getting silly with the width now too. My 150 is a pain in the arse driving in the Welsh valleys with narrow roads and cars parked on both sides.

The 1958 trim is a 7 seaters. But I struggled to take photo from the outside due to the tint, at the rear panel, it reflects.

They look pretty well built for heavy use - widthwise, found some information online;

Thing is, building for heavy use is great, as long as you can get to where you want to work. This is why I often do 3 trips with my Jimny and 6' trailer rather than one in the 150. We have lanes into the mountains with dry stone walls either side that were built for horses and carts. Not many prairie farms in South Wales. The 3.5 ton towing capacity is handy. I've ocassionally wished the 150 was 6" longer, but never wider.

I've seen one on the road here but they will soon be as popular than the 150 and older ones which are insanely popular here.

There's also the Great Wall Tank 300 that's launched here recently as China's 'Prado killler'. Highly unlikely that will happen but a have seen a few. Kind of doesn't quite have the looks and shape of the Prado.

Looks a lot better in that anthracite type colour, the wheel arches and cladding blend in better, not sure whether the square or round headlights look better, at least being upfight in both cases they shouldn't be troubled by the ultra violet damage in years to come like those of us with 120s are struggling to keep at bay, on the other hand assuming they are LEDs they don't come cheap when they die.

Interesting its sharing the same platform as the 300, does that mean they share the same ladder chassis too?
