250 series on the road?

Still toying with the idea of going satin black on my 80 Gav its shines up good as is but that takes maintenance and care :eusa-think:

Wish Toyota would use someone like us to advertise their vehicles , aka put it through its paces and if you can break it without deliberately trying to then you can have it . An unpaved road is still a road and can be navigate by a go cart without suspension

Just spent two weeks in the UK and I still haven't seen a 250 series on the road yet.
Has anyone seen one on the road in the flesh?
I know a couple of the main dealers here in the UK, most of them seem to have an allocation of two LC250 series for a year! demand is much higher than supply, although many have changes their minds on buying one as the engine is a bit on the underpowered side. It needed the V6 twin turbo in it out of the 300 series.

I totally agree but they will never fit it to the 250 as in other markets it would affect the dearer 300 series.

I can tell you it's not underpowered, on the other hand it's not a fire breather either. For normal driving on UK roads its as good as it needs to be as is a Hilux with the same engine.

Most of the reviews I've seen all comment that it's let down by the engine ....and while it may go alright in the niche market here it is a minimum of 70hp and 2 cylinders down on both it's rivals ....

It would be interesting to see a back to back comparison with a UK spec late 150. I've never driven one but no one ever said they were let down by the engine. No one ever wrings the last available HP out of this type of vehicle driving on the UK roads so in the real word its a bit academic. From what I can see better bulkhead insulation would remedy the " noisy engine" criticisms.

Came across this 250 video. It’s fun but I think 200, 100 or 80 would win too

I'm not and have never been a fan of TG, but this video came up on my feed and it struck me as more relevant to most buyers because the testers were not offroad experts either, not trying to be clever dicks, no pointless races and no speedboat type footage through deep water.
What was interesting is how controllable they found the throttle on the Toyota, which we could all relate to, unlike almost all other reviews they found the engine perfectly suitable for doing what it supposed to.

Seen my 1st 250 on the road today, pastel blue FE heading south on A1 past Knaresborough 3.30.

Saw my first last week Southbound on the M1 at the M25 turnoff - was light Blue (like the one in the video posted above) on a private plate. It looked good! :icon-cool:

Sand coloured one at a dealership here and I have to say it looks purposeful and proportionate , first new cruiser built in 20 odd years that held my interest for more than a cursory glance .

It was a loaded landrover fan took me up there to see it , let him drive my 80 last week to collect his new defender from the pub and he was grinning like a toddler . I didn't wait to be asked before telling him no i won't swap

Worth a watch, doesn't tell us a lot that we didn't already know.
Still it's worth a view of VBH

It's about time we had a 250 section Admin.

The 250.. how the aussie do it.

Stock 250 capabilities: Skip to mins 14:55 if you are only interested in the off road bits

And if you want to spend a lot of money on a 250 and make it one of a kind, watch this: skip to mins 30:00 straight into the offroad bit
