hi all and happy new year

has anyone ever seen or put a set of maxxis mudzilla 37 on a 80 before?
looking for a pic if anyone has

thanks guys

It will be the width, I runn 35/15/5/16s creepys on mine and it was the width that caused problems. But I am sure Rob on here had 37"s on his but it had a 6" spring lift. I am again looking at going to 36-37" tall tyres, but only 255 wide.

37s have been done many times. But usually with a diff re gearing too. 35's are deemed to be OK but 37 is another stretch. Simex has been the usual choice.

Ian is probably the most experienced 37 driver. In terms of miles. In terms of capability. In terms of challenge. In terms of.... Oh Ian, there's a lad here wants to know about your tyres...

Here you go.

It had 37x12.50x15 Maxxis Mudzillas when I first bought it. Wish I'd never taken them off now

In order to accomodate the tyres it had an OME 2.5" lift with 1" spring spacers and a 2" body lift. No rubbing except on full lock when articulating the front. No re-gear meant that it did struggle a bit.

that is perfect.
37s it is.
they are going on a 4.2 24v td manual. if was to re gear what would be the best option?
new to the 80s always had a 98 lwb landcruiser (95)

Had some 37x13 Pro Comps on mine very briefly, no body lift, about a 4" suspension lift, wasn't impressed, went back to Simex.

I think you put the wrong pic up Jon. That is after breaking isn't it ?

Frank

I had stripped it of a lot of stuff ready to go to Dave's to be broken / scrapped.

It really depends on your driving style. If you are "enthusiastic" in your off roading, standard CV joints will suffer with aggressive 37's. Longfield CVs seem to be the way to go but they are not cheap and they wear a lot faster than a normal CV. Not so critical with 35's.

I personally prefer narrow tyres to wide ones. The most narrow 37's I could find were the Simex style remoulds currently fitted.

Ian

what gearing should be used for 37" tyres ?
