4,7 V8 - power loss during acceleration

Hi forum.

I have a 100 cruiser with the 4,7 V8. It has started to lack power. It typically happens when accelerating when it feels like Im letting go the accelerator but Im not. Yesterday the power completely disappeared and I had to pull over and turn off the car. When turning it on again, it was working normally. But this problem is becoming more frequently.
Does anybody have an idea on what going on?

Ideally you want to get it plugged in and see if it's stored any error codes but to me it sounds like it could be a maf sensor.

Sounds like fuel starvation to me. Like there's muck being picked up by the tank pickup. The diesel 80s get it but I have no idea if this applies to petrol 100s. It would involve removing the tank pickup and checking the filter. Could the main fuel filter be blocking after not being changed for a while? Maf sensor failure usually (certainly on my Mitsi ) results in a generic value being adopted by the ECU and an engine light on the dash with little appreciable difference in operation.
