Well beyond my capability to advise, I'm afraid.

But being a nosy bugger, isn't that a 3 lt twin-cam petrol straight 6 used in the Supra?

Sounds an interesting project mind....

Yeap thats the one . The benefits of that is that engine is one of the most reliable engines (be turboed easily), MPG is going to be much less that the 1HD-T and torgue/horse power much more than the 1HD-T.

If MPG isn't an issue, you could supercharge it :auto-nx: :auto-layrubber:

Nahhhh . I will keep the low MPG , has enough power to pull the car offroad and uphill easily . I will turboed with a small turbo just for the low boosting in case of emergency lets say ,

Out of curiosity what MPG are you expecting to get once it's in the 80? It's not going to be anything like it is in a Supra.

One thing to note, is that the power on those engines really come in on the higher RPM end, especially if you turbo it, so you might lose a bit in terms of drive ability. Remember those 2JZ's are used to pushing around a very aerodynamic light weight car, a 80 series is by far the opposite.

not sure on the torque figures, but I think the supra's is just over 200 lb-ft, and the 1ht is 267 lb·ft (361 N·m) of torque at 1400 rpm.

After searching the net and asking diferent people even one that owns one in my country (is not a 80 series is LandCruiser II with a 2JZ-GTE) told me that think is a beast .

Guys am just checking my options here.

Thanks .

Theres always been a lot of talk more so on IH8MUD forum regarding swapping out there 4.5 litre petrol engine. From what been gathered over the years including the famous ICON company that specialises in full modded restorations with a blanc cheque in mind.

Most have come to the conclusion depending on budget and requirement need two main popular options.
One is the Dodge Cummings 4BT or 6 BT motors if diesel route is preferred.
Secondly the Chevrolet LS motors being a modern engine with economy & power to suit. Most choose the LS1 or the smaller LS3 with power from 400 bhp thats a huge plus.

These engines have proven to be reliable with accessible parts being reasonable.

Good luck with the decision you make Charis

Oh dear, one of my pet hates, videos that have been stretched to make a hill look steeper and taller, the oval wheels are a give-away, unless it's part of the conversion .

I'm not sure the vid added to the topic, even my old girl would have gone up there, with that amount of momentum.

Grouse over, but I'm interested in what you decide to do Charis, it's a brave move and deserves some attention

Turbo a 1fzfe that'll give you some power and not bad mpg if don't run silly power.

Low end torque is the key to off roading, nice and steady Eddie. Sticking to tarmac then yeah, sounds good.

Regards

Dave
