part that breaks and lets in water? I've read in the past about using a dob of sealant to repair it, but not sure what the part actually looks like.
 
Both sides, you could also pull the head lining down just below the drain and check the hoses have not become detached from the drain tube

What's the easiest way to drop the right part of the headlining - from around the sunroof or door maybe?
 
Just pull the door surround rubber seal off the A pillar along the top & down the front pillar ( about a foot in total ) you can then pull down the roof lining enough to see inside.

When you've got to the drain tubes it's a good idea to make sure they're clear. One of mine was blocked causing water to build up in the roof tray when parked facing uphill and overflow into the cabin when backing off the drive. Blew it out with an airline after trying a long wire failed. Quite a bit of crud came out. Obviously dirt/debris that'd been washed down from the tray.
