Automatic gearbox oil filter

Hi guys/gals,
I am amazed about this issue of the automatic gearbox oil filter.
Just got a reply via e-mail from a friend in the UK who inquired at his local Toyota service and was told no filter needs to be changed with the gearbox oil change.
Last week I was in Paris and at a Toyota service there, I was told the same - no filter to change with the gearbox oil change. But I called again another authorized Toyota service outside Sofia here, and they insisted this filter exists and gave me a quote for it of 103 GBP!!! Could it be some kind of a scam from Toyota Bulgaria?

I am not sure on how to tell them apart but as far as I know, the earlier ones allowed for maintenance and the newer ones (06-07 onwards?) are "sealed for life".
