As usual in Zimbabwe, the paint job went right to the deadline.. finished at 7pm in the dark and then I flew home to the UK at midnight.. Very happy with the results though.

Hi Felix, thanks for the comments, I was a bit unsure about the stripes but now they're on I'm really happy with them. As you say they are the correct period stripes and they really set the car off nicely. I've just got to spend the summer earning some money now so when I go back to Zim in September I can start sorting out the interior.. it's not great but I've a couple of people recommended to me in Harare.. Thinking of half brown leather + period fabric replacing the vinyl with the leather.

I'm guessing labour prices are cheaper there than the UK!
Yes, half leather would be great, keep it toned down, but still smart!

The paint job cost me $2000 USD so £1500 +- which I thought was fairly reasonable. They also did the underside with black stone chip, fitted some lights in the back bumper and fitted the snorkel. The upholstery, I'll find out nearer the time but I'm hoping it doesn't break the bank.. I'm also trying to decide whether to turbo the 2H or to fit another engine, I know where I can get a 12HT but I might have to buy the bus it's currently in to get it..

At least if you buy the bus, you can see it all working and any small bits that you might need are there with it. Rather than some one chopping the wiring loom or pipes to get it out.

For a different project, I have bought a whole car for the gearbox!

Shes a beauty! Yes best to unshackle that poor engine from such a sad home!

Got to keep the sun strip though
