Bad Clutch Pressure Plate

Just for interest. I changed my clutch last week. After putting it back together it would not go into gear while the engibe was running. As though the clutch wouldn't engage. The mechanic immediately said it was a.defective pressure plate. Noting this was a new asin kit I was highly skeptical. I was convinced they had put the friction plate on the wrong way round. Anyway, long story short, it turns out, the pressure plate was indeed defective. It was also not the first time the mechanic has seen this. He has seen it on a Subaru forester and another prado. Swapped the plate out for an exedy plate and it's all grand now. Thought this might be useful to someone out there should they have the same issue.
