BIG 80 series!

17.5 grand , he found time to polish it but not to fit the clutch so it has to be trailered away :eusa-think:

I also noticed the bonnet doesn't fit flush at the back even though it's hinged at the rear.

Wow what a roof rack and ladder. That engine is heavy, cast block and head

You have to admire the genius engineering of the handbrake fix though .

I have to ask (mainly because of my ignorance) - Why?
Why would you fit that engine to a Landcruiser? What advantages are there?

After a bit of googling, it seems the Cummins engines are popular choices to replace big, thirsty petrol V8's in US trucks. At 5.9+L they'll certainly have plenty of lowdown torque even in standard form and the one in the add has been uprated. I reckon the main, if not the only advantage over a Toyota 1HD-T/FT engine will be availability, especially in the US where very few (if any) diesel LC's were officially imported.

6 cylinder Cummins is a mighty engine capable of crazy horsepower/torque without sacrificing reliability .

I'm not sure why I get the feeling this Cummins and gearbox etc has been transplanted twice , like the old Range Rover conversion fells to bits and someone decided to salvage and shoehorn it all into a Cruiser .

Be hard to turn your nose up at at 6L 6 cylinder diesel Cruiser if it were done right I think .

The 5.9 is a great little engine but weighs loads.... and only revs to 2800 or so rpm unless you play around with the pump....
A good engine for conversions of thirsty big old petrol's but if you spent similar money on your 1hdt or 1hdft you could have 250 + hp and keep everything else original or buy loads of fuel .
I reckon a 3 litre inline BMW 6 would fit well in a petrol 80 and not need massive springs to support it .

The Ineos Grenadier uses BMW IL6 engines so must be well proven.

Surely being BMW it relies on digital nonsense nobody can fix ?

Yes, but probably the same digital nonsense that everybody else (including Mr Toyota) use nowadays.

I also noticed the bonnet doesn't fit flush at the back even though it's hinged at the rear.
That could possibly have been done to vent the heat trapped under the bonnet

Which is why i will have a brand new decades old Cruiser if i win the lottery '

6BT has very similar dimensions to 1FZ but the intake is set higher .
