Broken my 80 AGAIN

Sorry to see/hear of you problems Chris. 
I've heard that before. The theory is the cv's have spent thousands of miles going round one way but very few going the other way (reverse).
I've been tempted to swap my cv's round as they click going forwards on full lock, but not when in reverse.

that doesn't look too good Chris. hope you get it all fixed too
i fitted an HDK CV joint to my collie in July last year. after original started to click on hairpin climbs in the Alps.
wondering now if i should source a toyota one
collie doesnt have a front locker, so in theory shouldnt get the same stress as a fully locked 80 though - so "might" be OK

yep i've heard of people swapping them side to side
, makes sense to me cos the wear would be on one side of the groove in the bell wouldn't it and swapping to the other you'll be on the unworn side of the groove ?

Nowt worse than drive train issues IMHO

Ring and Pinion ordered and confirmed from the US just now. Priority shipping. We'll have to see. Just puzzled as to what actually caused it.
JW and I both think that it it wasn't being driven off road with the 37's on, we could put this diff back in and just run it actually. But if everything lined up one day on a tricky bit,, there's a chance I could blow the lot in spectacular style. Got to source some new CVs. Good job I have spare drive shafts. One was really hammered where the central star of the CV exploded. HDKs would get me going, but not sure I want to part with my hard-earned. On this truck, yes I'd like Longfields. Just have to take a bit of a run up at the piggy bank for those.

Well it's running again. Oddly, I worry about the front end. Which is odd because there is nothing in it! it feels a little lighter up there but when you consider I have no ARBs and we're missing the collective weight of the oil, shafts, CVs, locker and diff, it's hardly surprising. So Scotland tomorrow.

So what is it like driving 700 miles with no prop, no diff, no shafts and no CVs?
Bloody 'orrible.
What's it like off road - well on wet grass? Utterly stranded. I had to winch to the road. Damn I miss 4 wheel drive.
Big question - Hey Chris, what was he economy like, I am thinking of converting mine to 2x4.
Don't waste your time. I got 16mg on the way up. Slightly better coming back actually. Supermarket derv on the way up and Shell goodness coming home? But any dreams of it being better - forget them. Nasty to drive, useless in a field and certainly no better on fuel.
OK? Consumer test over. I need a diff.

Just went out again and its still coming down
no snow (or new gears) here, just wind.
Yep, woke up to a good dollop this morning. Had to be at the station for the early train to London. I was dang slippery. I missed a couple of turnings and had to go round again. My current tyres are totally useless in snow.

Longfield CVs arrived today. Hmm, they look man enough for the job that's for sure. I'll some pics at some point. They weren't cheap and hopefully that's the last I'll ever have to buy. Hmm. Blooming import Gestapo did me for £80.
Diff rebuild under way. Back on the road this month. And I can't wait. Fed up with 2 wheel drag.
