Is the glass flat mate because if it is and if its possible i'm sure you could find someone there with the skills to cut you a window from a larger flat screen from another vehicle .

Bad luck Clive. I broke mine on the night 10 p.m. we were about to leave for ferry/ France in the morning. I had reversed into an oak gatepost and had flattened the mountain bikes on the rear carrier and had pushed them through the rear screen. By 1.00 p.m. the next day I had had a rear polycarbonate made and fitted and had had 4 bike wheels straightened.

We had a Vaxhaull Cavalier once and the rear screen just shattered overnight still all in one piece.

Don't know what your insurance is like there, but I know the UK have some good coverage on windscreens if chipped/broken. Could be a cheaper alternative, just a thought! Bad luck for sure

Hi Beau, it's a pretty basic approach to insurance here, the minimum legal requirement of Third Party (only), is the maximum I can get on my truck because of its age. I can claim for nothing, not even fire or theft, but others (third parties) can claim from me if I cause them damage or loss.

That's it. The good side is it only costs the equivalent of about 120 quid a year, but the coverage is dire in the process. Newer cars (less than 10 years) can get CASCO which is the local equivalent to fully comprehensive cover, but its not available to me and the old girl.

For this reason, I'm scared to death of electrical fires, the risk of theft here is minuscule compared with many countries like the UK, there I've easily lost count of the number of break-ins and total vehicle thefts I had.

When I told him, a guy at work had a very similar thing happen to his VW Golf, a very cold day, switched on the rear demist and bang, end of story.

We'll sort it no worries...

Hi Flint, yep, I imagine so.

Trouble is I'm preparing for an adjudication case being heard in Istanbul Mon-Thur next week, and as usual I'm behind with my prep work for it. I'm presenting the two cases and I'm co-counsel for out client, so I can't feck it up

I simply don't have time for anything before I leave at mid-day tomorrow...

I'll sort it when I get back, either with a new or S/H one, or even some polycarb if I have to wait for glass. I'd even bang a sheet of ally in there short term, I really don't need the vision too much, mirrors and reverse camera are enough.

That's typical Frank, just when you don't need things going wrong rushing for a ferry.

I packed up a trailer on my MK3 Escort for our holidays one year, moons ago, we all piled in and I reversed to get down the driveway, completely forgetting the trailer was attached.

It jack-knifed of course and stoved the side back door of the car right in

What a dick-head I felt

The worst thing is who to blame? It's so frustrating when you can't point a finger. At first I thought mine was just the cold weather, act of God and all that stuff, but on investigation it was my bloody fault, me of all people.. I ask you...

My fault. No excuse. Well I was avoiding a van but I didn't need to avoid it that much. Worst part is I was just coming back from showing a mate the new looking wheels. Doh!!!
