CANbus theft.

I don't see a link? Is that just a plate that goes over the OBD port?
Apologies. Link should have been included, but seems to be being blocked as a link;

Google "new toyota statement on vehicle theft final fix now available" and find the C-HR forums thread. Go to page 4 and look for post No 63

No, it's not a plate. It is an electronic gizmo that is added to the CANbus to block access - see post in link as I have not yet learned much more than that.

If you find it OK, and can manage a link I'm sure that would help others, but I can't seem to get the link posted.

The opening lines are "Toyota have released a final hardware solution to the CAN invader theft issue - its only just rolling out so your Toyota dealer might not be fully aware yet."

Haven't got anything in mine but I did disable the keyless entry. But then hopefully the 3 pedals and gearstick will get most script kiddies to move onto another that's auto.

Would consider Automatrics if I was in the UK, the guy there actually goes to the stolen vehicle and works with police etc to recover them.

Yeah they're good there - they're based about 2 minutes from where I live. Had a really long chat with them in their office. It's a really small team, but most of their other finders are actually off duty police officers themselves.

He also confirmed that they have many new videos ready to be uploaded at some point!

Where are you based? I think I remember him also mentioning that they're expanding to the USA, and I think their system actually comes from south Africa from what I can tell.

I'm in Brisbane (Queensland, Australia). Been here 18 yrs now. Probably a necessity in some places in South Africa.

Would be great to have them in AU though I haven't heard of relay or CAN theft being a big issue here. I guess the main culprits (LR) aren't too popular here and generally if you can afford a Range Rover or Defender you also have a garage or two to keep them in.

That's great you got to meet their team would be so interesting to have a chat with them!

eah they're good there
They are not far from me too, if they fit the tracker, I might be tempted to get one.
I saw their videos recently. Interesting ones. I am overthinking with tracker and am not sure if I need a tracker with worldwide coverage or just the UK, a permanently hardwired one or simple solution like the apple tag. We can easily hide few apple tags in our cruisers for the price of professional trackers. They are cheap and easy to manage.

I have now had Toyota's "Canbus blocker" installed (but not wholly paid for) by Toyota. I believe as well as the 150, it also applies to RAV4 and C-HR and a number of Lexus models.
