My 25 year old Starter Motor clicked and didn't spin on my Auto Colorado 3.0TD so ordered one from RoughTrax and got it fitted. All good now.
So I thought as its an auto a spare is essential if off roading and on expedition. I decided to take a look inside and what I saw was what I had read about, a pitted and worn plunger and contacts.
I'll order a spares kit from either eBay or RoughTrax to bring back the original starter to life and a spare. Cost for this is either £20 for a pattern kit or £60 ish for OEM.
If you are on a budget and you get the Click, Click, order a spares kit and fit it. It'll save you £150!
Anyway, interesting photos attached.
