Chasing cruise control intermittent fault. Have removed, stripped, cleaned, refitted and adjusted pedal switches. All perfect there but CC still works intermittently. Anybody know where the CC control box is please?

Behind the dash close to the steering column apparently?

In the FSM (chassis), pages BE107-109, there's a diagnostic procedure to follow with codes generated by the cruise control light on the dash

Thank you so much TP. I hope there are contacts in there I can clean. I seem to have a left hand drive WSM ! which shows the box on the other side of car. I have the column switch in bits but contacts look like new; also would not explain why my CC cuts out on the motorway when it is working as those contacts are not touching unless the lever is moved. I will adjust the handbrake lever light in case that is the cause but the HB light does not come on, but there is very little slack against the switch. I have also changed the gearbox speed sensor for a new one! I will try the diagnostic which I read but ran away in confusion.

Yesterday I went for a test after refitting the pedal switches. I noticed that the CC did work after moving the control switch down, then up to position the throttle. I thought I had a partial cure but looking at the switch today it seems this is the correct way (fool). I conclude the fault was most likely adjustment of the pedal switches. My handbrake does not cancel the CC in contradiction to the above diagram.

If I remember correctly, mine gave up the ghost in Tanzania a few years ago. The speedo was playing up too at the same time sometimes working sometimes not. Turned out to be a knackered speed sensor on the gearbox or transfer box, I can’t remember which. Fairly simple fix.
