I'm trying to spruce up my truck before I sell it and I would like to sort out the drivers door mirror that has the classic, so I'm told, "Wobbles". (after I replaced the mirror glass many years back and made a balls of getting the old glass out)
So I did a search without any luck for the club member who is 3D printing the part required to fix the problem!
I wonder if anyone has experience of buying a replacement from Ali Express or fleaBay and swapping the innards?
Any tips most appreciated

Was a few years ago i bust the mirror glass off road and looking at options settled for a whole electric mirror cheap from ebay .

Ever since I've thought i should have bought one for the other side at the same time .

If it was in anyway different from the original I didn't notice or can't remember .

Thanks Shayne, It's the colour that makes me ask about swapping the innards of the mirrors.
The mirrors on my truck match the body colour and I would like to keep the colour if possible. I tried a colour matched aerosol on some bodywork and it was no where near the same colour. I just replaced the upper tailgate as the original had rusted through by the lock. When I took it to the body shop for painting they insisted that I bring the truck to them so that the A.I. computer paint mixer could scan the original colour to get a perfect match - I was impressed.
Now the tailgate is like new, a lovely paint finish.... except the moonglow grey is more moonglow green!
Of course there is no guarantee that the innards of the Chinese mirrors is even the same mechanism and would be able to be swapped into an existing mirror. So if anyone has tried transplanting the mechanism it would be good to hear how they got on.

There was a little peg inside both mine that had broken off. A little drill and new peg fixed it for good.

From memory there is an access hole in the bottom of the housing to remove a screw.

If the other mirror is good and not worn could you not make a copy of the cog/pin whatever with metal putty

Be stronger than original if possible .

The mirror glass in my drivers side motor started wobbling and lost electric adjustment when two plastic upper locating lugs on the mirror mechanism broke off. I made some new anchor points out of some aluminium sheet and screwed/glued it to the mirror back. It's been fine since with full electric adlustment.

Thanks Felix2566, I did not realise there are two syndromes! "Shaky" (FMS), and "Floppy" (FMS)! I wonder which one I have?

I'll have to have a go at getting it apart and taking a better look. It has been a while since I replaced the mirror.
It's amazing what you put up with until the time comes when you want to sell and then all the little things you have ignored for years have got to be fixed!
Thanks everyone for your help, very much appreciated
